new beginning

After finishing my 2nd Half Marathon on Sunday, I feel somewhat relieved to have crossed it off my schedule. To be honest I was worried about training up to running the distance and not eating enough, too much strength training and spinning and not running enough. Let’s just say that I let myself get a little out of control and while I was eating good for most of the time, I found myself also over indulging in too many treats.

I’ve gained 10lbs.

I need to remove them. Not lose, because that term implies that they should/will be found again.

I will remove them.

I am going to be accountable for what I put into my body. I gave up dairy for lent, and while I will say that no having no cheese has been difficult, its not impossible and my skin is looking WAY better than before. So even after Lent is over I think I might stick to a dairy free diet.

Except that up until today, I decided that chocolate didn’t count as dairy. Oh but it is you say… I know. And that is why I have gained weight.

Enough about that.. this morning started off with a small banana and a spin class at the gym with my brand new cycling shoes! I was SO excited to use them, and let me say, that spinning shoes make all the difference in spin class. If you spin regularly, I recommend you invest in spinning shoes, you will love them.

Before I left for the gym, I made a Green Monster.

In the mix was:

Kale

Spinach

8 oz unsweetened Almond Milk

1/2 frozen banana

ice

Power trio: 1 scoop Designer Whey Vanilla protein powder, 1 scoop Green Superfood powder, 2 tbsp Pomegranate powder

After Spin,  I was going to do some arm/ upper body weights, but I wasn’t feeling it. Instead I just stretched my legs for 15 minutes which felt amazing. They were SO. TIGHT. AND. SORE. after Sunday’s Half Marathon!

I’m at the office now, sipping a coffee with Almond milk.  I have a volunteer meeting after work!
